Mountain View, Calif. (June 2010) – Higher education marketing firm AcademixDirect has launched its Online Yearbook, celebrating the many contributors to, and graduates of, career colleges and online schools, with Lisa Leslie, two-time WNBA basketball champion, four-time Olympic gold medal winner, and University of Phoenix MBA graduate, who serves as the first featured participant.
AcademixDirect created the Online Yearbook to document the company’s College Reunion Headquarters experience at the Career College Association’s (CCA) 2010 Annual Convention June 9-11. Visitors to the College Reunion Headquarters, many of whom work at or attended career colleges, were invited to participate in AcademixDirect’s Online Yearbook as a way to make valuable new connections. Serving as AcademixDirect’s CCA partner and the Online Yearbook’s first participant, Lisa Leslie shared insights on her pioneering professional basketball career and how the MBA she earned at the University of Phoenix in 2004 is now benefiting her post-WNBA career.

Many current WNBA players are pursuing online degrees, including: Helen Darling of the San Antonio Silver Stars, who is conducting online studies at Penn State University; Sophia Young, also with the San Antonio Silver Stars, who is studying at the University of Phoenix, and Hamchetou Maiga-Ba of the Minnesota Lynx, who earned her MBA from the University of Phoenix. Also of note, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal earned his MBA from the University of Phoenix in 2005.
